Staycations are a great way to enjoy all the benefits of a holiday without hopping on a plane or a long drive. Now that we’re living in a pandemic what better way to do it than in your own home. It’s important to create your little pockets of happiness within the storm, not only for your sanity but to bring some joy back in your own everyday life. So what does that look like you may ask, it’s anything from treating yourself to an at-home spa day, buying that luxurious bedding, creating an indoor picnic, or even setting up the table for a solo dinner. Here we give you ways to spruce up your space and indulge those wanderlust feels
The next best thing to having a relaxing day at the spa is doing it from the comfort of your own home. If you’re going to do it, go all out. Get a fancy robe, light some relaxing candles, put on a spa playlist, and get your treatments ready to go. Anything from a long relaxing bath with oils to an at-home facial with masks and creams will have you feeling as refreshed as a full day at the spa, without the heavy price tag.
There are a few things in life that feel quite as indulgent as staying at a hotel. Somehow those hotel beds always manage to feel like a fluffy cloud and the sheets feel as soft as spun silk. But you don't have to break the bank or hop on a plane to experience the magic of your favourite hotel room. There are a few easy things you can do to recreate the same luxurious feel in your bedroom, and it all starts with good linens.
You'll notice that almost all hotel rooms have lamps on either side of the bed. This always helps pull the room together visually and also allows you to turn off the overhead light and create a warm mood in your space. Find a small rug that you can place on the side of the bed and remember, the softer the better. Another great way to up the luxe factor in your bedroom is to invest in a wireless speaker to listen to your favourite music and podcasts. Lastly, trick out your side table with handy items such as hand creams, a book, or a magazine.
Decor is the biggest crowd-puller when it comes to booking a hotel for a getaway and the same rule applies when your vacation is at home. Give new life to your space by rearranging your furniture and swapping everyday deco pieces with new ones, focusing on different patterns, textures, shapes, and colours.
This is one of the simplest, yet most transformative staycation ideas. By easily changing the way you eat your meals, you can make your table more reminiscent of a cosy bistro for a date night or a cafe you’d usually find on vacation. Treat your staycation like a special occasion and have your meals at the table. Better yet, dust off your finest dishware.
Being stuck at home can feel stressful and somewhat lonely but we hope these suggestions will help you enjoy your time at home as much as you can. You don’t have to get on a plane to have a great vacation, all it takes is imagination and a little effort to create bliss at home.
