You’ve been invited to a friend’s wedding, you RSVPd, and you even have a few gift ideas written down. But what are you going to wear? The general rule of thumb: don’t wear anything that’ll upstage the bride. There’s nothing shadier than a wedding guest who’s out to be the Beyoncé of the occasion. Here are four outfit ideas that’ll land you your share of compliments while still keeping the spotlight on the people whose big day you’re celebrating.

For the minimalist

Combine the best of this summer’s soft colour palette with comfort dressing with an by wearing an off-the-shoulder top and tailored trousers. Pastel hues look perfect with white, and add a retro touch with matching block heels helps elevate the ensemble to smart casual status.

For the flower lover

The quintessential summer wedding look is light and easy to wear. For your next wedding, match a pair of black cropped trousers with a sheer embroidered top and finish things off with a simple heel.

For those who love making a lasting impression with powerful pieces, go the elegant route with wide-leg trousers and a blouse. Make a statement with the details – try tie sleeves and pinstripes or a crinkle material for the pants. End things off with statement jewellery and a strappy heel.
