It’s safe to say that being at home has allowed many of us to press pause and put more time and love into things that matter to us the most, one of them being our skin. Now that time is on our side, a simple cleanse and moisturise isn’t enough to keep and maintain healthy and radiant-looking skin.
We caught up with Content Creator and Beauty Influencer Jessica Van Heerden about all things skincare, key ingredients she looks out for, and new habits she’s including in her daily routine.
I love the way it makes me feel. Skincare is part of my daily routine and it's not only important to me to treat myself but also to take care of the one skin I have for the rest of my life.
In the summertime I don’t overdo it too much, less is more for me but I never skip vitamin C and SPF in the morning.
Personally, I can’t do without a vitamin C serum, SPF and a good mist.
For daytime, I look for products with a high SPF. For evenings, I lean more towards products with retinol as it increases skin cell turnover and stimulates collagen production for a firmer, more youthful appearance.
Definitely! I add a scoop of collagen in my coffee every morning and I can also tell if I haven’t been drinking enough water, my skin and lips will be a little bit dryer so yes absolutely!
Jelly sheet masks are my go-to, they’re amazing! I also enjoy applying an overnight mask and let it do its job while I sleep. I’m not the biggest fan of exfoliating with peel-off masks so I usually opt for a clay mask that I can wipe off with a warm face cloth.
I love my jade roller, especially for depuffing and increasing circulation. Before using it, I make sure to leave it in the fridge for a few hours. While it can get a little cold, it wakes me up and refreshes my skin in the morning. In the evenings, I remove my makeup in the shower with an oil-based cleanser and makeup eraser.
