SOTW #28

Colour with a twist

Created in 1917 as a non-skid basketball shoe, the Converse All Star was originally publicised for its superior court performance by basketball player and businessman Chuck Taylor. Over the decades, the sneaker was slowly adopted into streetwear, thanks to its timeless silhouette and unmistakable ankle patch. Carrying the brandā€™s stylish DNA, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Lift flirts with feminine construction with a twill upper sitting above a platform sole. Off-kilter DIY details like rainbow-coloured stitching and workwear accents add personality to the bold platform silhouette. A footbed logo captures the eye from within the shoe and a diamond tread pattern on a vulcanised rubber outsole offers edge and function. For style that goes over the rainbow, this is the pair.
