Spring has officially sprung and outdoor antics are back in full swing with plenty of after-school and weekend playdates. The new season brings with it a sense of adventure and exploration so dear to kids: days spent with imaginations running wild, a light sheen of sweat and fresh grass burns ready to be washed away during bath time. While it’s all fun and games for little ones, it’s far less enjoyable scrubbing the signs of adventures out of their shorts and tees. Clothing set aside for playtime is a huge help when dirt and grime go hand in hand with an afternoon well spent. So what makes up the playtime uniform of spring? Comfort, functionality and durability, of course, with a few treasured pieces thrown into the mix for birthday parties and special occasions.

What’s the password? Sneakers. Many of your tree-climbing memories may involve bare feet. But they also include splinters and stinging feet from courageously launching off precarious heights, right? Sneakers are a playtime staple for outdoor adventures, whether your little ones are scaling trees, galavanting on pavements, out for a sunny hike or simply exploring.

A fun time for the whole family, soccer (and all games that involve spurts of sprinting) calls for lightweight clothing. Basic tees, cosy shorts and dresses are all part of the winning team. Stocking up on affordable basics for this kind of playtime is a great way of preserving pricier items and allowing your kids to go all out on the field.

Birthdays are a great opportunity for your kids to feel confidently dressed and stylish in their own right. An element of play will always make an appearance, too, so easy-to-wear accessories or are a good option. They can be removed when things become festive, while adding a unique and all-dressed-up feel to any outfit.

Whether you’re camping in your backyard with a substitute tent or going full bushwhacking for the promise of gooey marshmallows, transitional pieces for warm days and cool nights are crucial. Think basic tees and jeans that later get layered with a cool windbreaker.
