We’ve all envisioned transforming ourselves in an epic cinematic wardrobe montage á la The Devil Wears Prada, but updating your look in 2019 doesn’t have to be as dramatic and certainly can’t always involve suddenly drowning in designer pieces. But, whether you’re looking for a new outfit for the weekend’s festivities, a casual wardrobe update, or a completely new look, here are a few ideas you can incorporate into your wardrobe by simply brushing up some old favourites.

Neutral tones and utility-inspired attire are at the forefront of fashion with shades of brown, taupe and khaki being hailed as ‘the new black’ by influencers on the streets of Paris Fashion Week. While these forever-in tonal hues aren’t difficult to conquer, you can extend their life even further with a hint of bright detail. Think subtle flashes of colour in the form of accessories; a waist-cinching belt, a belt-bag, or statement jewellery.

We’re playing a game of hide-and-seek with a hint of sheer. Introduce mesh in to your look, which is a lot more versatile than you think. Try a simple, translucent top paired under a structured blazer, or as a Dior-inspired overlay on a pleated skirt for a romantic take on peek-a-boo. For the final touch? A pair of contrasting military boots to surprise and delight.
