Before completely checking out of “efficient mode” and checking straight into the easy mood of relaxation, getting your suitcase in order for your holiday is the next key step after sorting out transportation and accommodation. Because we appreciate that the aesthetics of the holiday can be as important as the fun you’ll have on your time away, we’ve asked Style and Travel Blogger Twiggy Moli to put us on to her cheat codes to a staycation that is as stylish as it is memorable.

  •  Top 3 safari/ winelands staycations you’ve been on:

Delaire Graff and Peter Falke are absolutely divine for a trip to the winelands. For an escape to the bush, Sabi Sand Game Reserve, stay at the Jaci’s Sabi House for the ultimate privacy and best hospitality.

  • How far in advance do you check your holiday destination’s weather forecast before planning looks?

The weather forecast is one of the first things I check for when planning my getaways. I prefer going to warmer destinations, thereafter, I start planning my looks. I need at least 3 per day! (LOL!)

  • Which do you prioritise when packing: your itinerary or the sites and scenery you’ll be visiting?

It’s always important to pack according to the itinerary vs a perfect look for the location. So that’s how I pack but also don’t shy away from packing extra items for the location. But comfortability is always key, especially in the bush. It gets really hot in the day and really cold in the evenings, and no one wants to look like a fool in the wild!

I do spend my free time on bush trips to shoot looks that wouldn’t typically work during the planned activities though.

  •  What are the absolute key wardrobe pieces to pack for a getaway in the bush?

Comfortable shoes, sunnies for the day time and a warm jacket or jersey for the sunset game drives. It gets freezing in the evening in the bush.

  •  On her picks from Superbalist picks:

Because realllly dressing up is not always possible in the bush, I’ve picked statement accessories to make sure that my looks always pop. It’s the same in the winelands, but you always want to look chic. So I’ve selected classic pieces that can be styled in various ways – relaxed and comfy or on-trend and sophisticated.
