Sweats, like a Celebrity

Pull off this winter’s must-try tracksuit trend like our favourite celebrities do

celebrity sweats

It’s a thing. You can officially wear your sweats outside the house. If our advice on how to wear them like the stylish grown-up you are didn’t convince you, maybe these celeb looks will. Steal some inspiration from your faves for your next weekend look and prosper in this winter’s cosy must-have essentials.

AKA does the hoodie

Providing both extra coverage and effortlessly laid-back look, the hoodie is the ultimate casual essential. You could make an investment in a good quality grey-coloured one for more versatility (it goes just as well with sweats as it does with a tweed blazer), or you can make like the Supa Mega and go luxe in white layered under a millennial pink denim jacket. It strikes a great contrast with black chinos, plus the pop of colour with lift your look on any given rainy day.

Maps does the statement sweat

Sometimes making a statement isn’t about the brightest and boldest colours, at least when it comes to sweats. If you’re more reserved in your dressing or prefer a more subtle colour palette, try a sweatshirt in a colour like tan, grey or black with a simple logo across the chest. It’s great for layering or for wearing on its own. Wear it with everything from your tailored trousers to go-to weekend jeans.

Stormzy does the tricot tracksuit

Active athlete or nah, a two-piece tracksuit is an outfit anyone can pull off. It takes the hassle out of mixing two separates to make a look, plus it’s right on the pulse of the retro revival happening in fashion. All you need to complete the ensemble is a pair of your best sneakers (Stan Smiths would've worked as well as the Superstars do) and the attitude of a top-notch slay king.

David Beckham does sweatpants

When it comes to sweatpants, the difference between an A-class look and looking sloppy falls down to the fit. The silhouette should be slim (not skinny) and tapered towards the ankle — a cuffed hem should sort this out. Stick to low-key colours like black or grey if you’re looking for something you can level up for the office, or try retro hues like blue to complement your maximalist aesthetic.
