The jeans you’ll want to wear on repeat
In some sense, skinny jeans are an anomaly in the world of fast fashion. They went from novelty to wardrobe staple over 10 years ago, and have stayed that way ever since.
They flatter most shapes and are as comfortable as second skin, plus they’re easy to throw on and pair with just about anything. Statement flats and an oversized white shirt, a poloneck and sneakers, a lace bodysuit and heels – literally, anything. Once you’ve got your perfect fit down, it’s all about a small selection of basics: black for nights out and slightly smarter occasions, true blue with contrast stitching for everyday and dark indigo for those in-between moments. White jeans also work cross category, and can do summer soiree as easily as they can head-to-toe winter neutrals.
Now for the non-negotiables. When it comes to fit, make sure that they taper well, sitting tightly around the ankles, and if you like to roll, opt for a pair in a slightly longer length. Next, let’s talk stretch. It’s a wonderful thing – it’s neat and flattering when you opt for the right size, but go too big and the jeans will bunch, or go too tight and the jeans will ripple. Lastly, high-waisted denims are big on the confidence-boosting front. They’ll enhance the bum and shape the waist in just the right way.
