Five fashion girl approved spring time denim trends for you to follow

An uncontested closet hero, denim is the main anchor of any style aficionado’s collection of clothes. Be it the most comfortable pair of boyfriend jeans or your ever so durable, never-been-washed denim jacket: denim lives many lives through many shapes, forms, styles and colours. By no means a trend; it really could be described as a lifestyle, which - of course - gets trendy iterations every now and then. And for the love of trying new things and staying current, keeping up with the fashion shifts and revamping your classic denim looks as the seasons change could be fun.
How might you switch it up, this coming spring? We’ve put together five upgrade ideas, for your consideration...
Fast becoming a wardrobe mainstay, white denim - in whatever form- adds a touch of smoothness. Invest in a pair of itsy bitsy white denim shorts to create the perfect contrast with sun-kissed limbs this spring… you could also borrow an oversized denim jacket from the boys and throw it on as a chic transitional piece.
Don’t sweat it
Sweats meet denim - winning combination! Dress for comfort and still achieve a slight street edge with these easy denim-look sweat shorts. This blush knit with billowing bell sleeves literally gives your down time look some extra flare - just another way you could look at it if tees with sweats aren’t your cup of tea.
Denim on denim
Not necessarily the Canadian Tuxedo… The denim skirt has been restyled, this season, and there are a multitude of silhouettes and fits to choose from. This slim fit denim pencil skirt hugs your curves in all the right ways, make this a subtle denim-on-denim look by adding a black denim jacket. Bonus: the oversized jacket gives this otherwise sexy ensemble some edge.
The classic 501’S
Oh, the OG Levi’s denim fit: the 501’s. You either know them, have them, fancy them or aren’t ready to admit how much they’d change your life! A classic straight leg silhouette, with non-stretch fabric, with it’s high-rise waist and snug fit, it works for every other shape. Not to mention the extra lift it gives your bum, a flawless fave that doesn’t need fixing, but could be brought to the future with frayed edges.
In case you’ve been oblivious to the seventies redux and how exactly the decade has taken over the style scene, we’ve been seeing denim footwear everywhere! From Nicolas Ghesquiere’s denim boots at Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2015 Paris Fashion Week show, to your favourite Instagram baddie’s OOTD in 2017, denim heels are having quite the moment. An all-denim ensemble is always a fun place start, with this trend. Try out your heels with denim jeans, a bodysuit and jacket, once you’re ready to experiment, go all in and contrast them with different textures.
