Bella, Hailey and Gigi's CFDA red carpet looks are #goals
Homebodies rejoice — now that it’s really cold, you don’t have to make up excuses for why you won’t come out tonight. As for the braver among us, who would never let a little rain keep them from a turn up, we thought you might be in need of a little style inspiration for your next night out. One of the biggest nights on the fashion calendar happened this week: the Council of Fashion Designers of America (or the CFDA) held their annual star-studded award night on Sunday. It’s always a great red carpet — remember Rihanna’s #iconic Swarovski naked dress? — and Hailey Baldwin, Bella Hadid, and Gigi Hadid brought their A-game for this one. Take notes.
Start with a bodycon dress. It’s really easy to default to black after dark, so take a style risk in nighttime white.
Add on a furry clutch and a feathered heel. Keeping things simple with the dress leaves room to play with textured accessories.
End with sleek grooming, to match the smooth contours of the dress.
Start with a statement blazer. Bella’s is a dress, but if your dress isn’t a custom sponsored number by OFF-WHITE™ like hers, you might get more bang for your buck with a 2-piece dailyfriday suit that makes just as much of a splash.
Add on a statement shoe. Remember that bright colours or crazy accents are not the only look-at-me details you can go for; sometimes taking something away is just as effective. Case in point: This Missguided heel gives the illusion of floating feet.
End with a retro bob cut and designer Virgil Abloh on your arm as your date for the night, if possible.
Start with a column dress. A demure choice for Gigi, but still a standout look. The same effect can be achieved and amplified by choosing flesh tone pieces or a single bright hue.
Add on a minimal, voluminous coat in the same colour for a look that feels casual but meets a more formal dress code.
End with shoes in the same shade too, for the elongating effect of monochrome dressing. Choose heels if you want the height, but Gigi’s look still oozes class with a pair of Stuart Weitzman glitter flats.
