Gifts and goodies for Zama, a Jozi scene queen
We’ll be honest, we don’t know your family or your friends, but we do know gifting, and so in the spirit of the season we’ve put the people you’ll be buying for into neat little boxes so that you can figure out more easily what you should buy for them. Meet the original bad-bad, Zama.
Zama's a young and independent baddie with an eye for fashion and a predisposition for meeting not so good guys. We’re not sure how she does it but if there’s a tall and shady guy nearby, she’s probably already been there.
Questionable life choices aside, Zama has a love for all things fashion and trend related and it shows, not so much in the things she puts on but in all the looks she can actually pull off. 90s Pop trend? She’s tried that. 80s Hip Hop fashion? She’s probably the sole force behind its comeback. So is it really shocking that her wardrobe consists of all the latest chokers, Birkenstock sandals, and mom jeans? She’s the kind of gal pal you wouldn’t even consider buying socks without consulting, ‘Cause she’s down with it and she also knows how to get whatever you’re after at a bargain price.
You’ll catch Zama doing a bit of blogging on the side with some of the country's hottest brands sending her apparel to showcase their latest offerings. We’d call her a blogger, except she’s more of a PR maven, kind of like Kelly Cutrone, from America’s Next Top Model (which she’s seen all 23 seasons of, and never lets you forget.)
Her passions include The Mindy Project, which she can quote verbatim and watches in-between attending regular Xhosa Nostra sessions and all-night ragers at Taboo.
Yes, you guessed it, Zama’s a Jozi girl through and through and has mad love for the city. Sharing a two-bedroom apartment with her best friend Lindiwe, she lives in Maboneng and you’re most likely to find her wandering the streets of Braamfontein with a latte in her hand a DSLR strapped around her neck. She loves a vintage market as much as the next person and that’s why she’s always on the lookout for a new pop up to explore.
Did we mention that Zama occasionally organises poetry events and has a hand in the creative scene in Braam? Because she does. Zama’s your go-to person to find out what’s new, hot and happening and does all of that in heels too.
Don’t be fooled by Zama’s love for fashion, she’s an aspiring accountant, currently interning at Grant Thornton, and is a firm believer in hard work and won’t let anyone tell her otherwise.
