Last week Wednesday the world came to a halt to celebrate the life of Tina Turner. The legendary singer, actress, performer and author passed away at the age of 83 after a long illness. Dubbed the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, the award-winning songstress redefined the journey of women in entertainment after making a noteworthy comeback over the age of 40 (a decade most synonymous with ageist notions of declining success and creativity for women in the entertainment industry). 

An expansive and celebrated discography is not the only factor that gives Ms.Tina ‘icon status’. On and off the stage, the What’s Love Got To Do With It performer upped the ante on her fashion choices. Whether she was performing in front of thousands in ‘20s-inspired mini-dresses and pointy stilettos or an understated white tee and jeans combo that oozed cool, one thing was for sure: all eyes were on Tina Turner.
