We’ve been scouring Instagram for some holiday inspiration and, with #travel being one of the platform’s top-performing hashtags, it’s little wonder that we’ve caught a case of wanderlust. Right now, we’re admiring the chic, minimalist and expertly photographed life of Cassandra Twala. A design fair curator, architecture graduate, lifestyle content creator and event and brand manager, Cassandra’s eye for beauty, creative approach to documenting her travels and utterly modern dress sense have secured the young multitasker a considerable following. She sees what she shares online as a form of storytelling and is focused on producing content that speaks to young women. Here, she tells us about her recent trip to South America and shares some of her holiday tips, favourite pieces to pack and her next dream holiday destination.

Where did you most recently go on holiday?

Brazil, South America. While there I visited São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia.

What was your favourite thing about the trip?

Hiking the Dois Irmãos peaks in Rio de Janeiro.

Could you share some key packing items and tips?

  1. Ziplock bags: have a few extra in your suitcase for any emergencies.
  2. Snacks: I always have some nuts or protein bars with me when I travel.
  3. Don’t waste space with a lot of handbags.
  4. A power bank is a must.
  5. Take your supplements with you. You don’t want to get too far out of your regular routine.
  6. Sunscreen always!

What’s the one thing you never travel without?

Sunscreen.

Where is your next dream holiday?

I have so many. Dakar for the culture, design and the city. Japan for the lifestyle, design, food and architecture. And the Norway fjords for hiking and the beautiful scenery.

What is your ultimate holiday outfit?

Anything linen. It’s breathable, easy to wear and elegant. Perfect for travelling.
