There is a special place in this world for men who want an exceptionally curated wardrobe, be it for strolling around town or attending fancy affairs adorning finely tailored gear. Men who only want fashion-first pieces fresh off the runway. We at Superbalist pride ourselves on being able to cater to that man. And we also understand that tastes, needs and lifestyles vary greatly. Sometimes, what one wants is simple, affordable essentials that succinctly say “less, but with a little bit more”. Our in-house label was crafted with this principle in mind. Who better to showcase this than some of the most stylish men on team Superbalist?

As Head of Digital Design, Deon has passionately been in charge of our label’s online visual treatment. His days are largely spent behind screens, so for Deon, the ingredients for a successful yet comfortable look consist of essentials: a jacket, a crisp shirt, hard-working jeans and, depending on the day, sneakers. As classics man, his favourite piece from the collection is the suede jacket. “What I like about it most is the texture — the fact that it's also in a bomber style is really what hits it out of the park.”

Devon Daniels is all about functional fashion. Since he’s not a big fan of bags, extra pockets are perfect for his commuter lifestyle, holding essentials such as his mobile phone, charger, keys, shades and cardholder. His best item from our label? The tapered work pants, which he pairs with a basic white tee and monotone sneakers. As Senior Sneaker Buyer, if a piece of clothing doesn't work with his sneakers, then it’s not something he wears.

Working on Superbalist’s label from its infancy has been an exciting, rewarding experience for Neil. As a father with little time to spare, he follows this style tip to keep out the chill, stylishly: wear a good Sherpa-lined jacket. “The denim trucker jacket has become a staple item in many men’s wardrobes, but when winter really hits, it just doesn't quite do the trick.” His solution? Wear it with a basic crew-neck sweat top, along with Superbalist’s black regular tapered worker pants, sporty socks and sneakers.

Having worked tirelessly on our private label and being well-versed in the sartorial details of menswear, Chad is hard-pressed to choose a single favourite item from the collection. If forced, he’d commit to the overdyed worker jacket. Waxing lyrical, Chad says, “The foundry-style pockets of this jacket allow for easy carrying of all of my essentials without having to dig into pockets. I’d wear it with a pair of low-cut Vans and a cropped slim, black chino from the collection — with the hem rolled up.” According to Chad, details and accessories make or break an outfit. He wears this jacket with the first five buttons buttoned and a plain navy tee, then finishes off his look with a beanie in the season's hottest colour.

Phakama creates quality assurance processes for suppliers and oversees garment technologists and quality controllers at Superbalist, so detail means everything to him. In his opinion, a great outfit starts from the bottom up. His best item? The casual derby. Being a smart dresser, a shoe that works inside the office with a hint of formality is perfect. “I’d wear these with cropped check pants and a functional polo shirt.”
