The Mixtape Vol. 154

Keegs Bantom delivers a play-anywhere-mix that will get you in the mood to get down

Keegs Bantom started making around a decade ago while still in high school. Together with a friend he made "beat tapes" which they successfully sold to friends and teachers, quite a big deal for a student. DJing came later, after being introduced to vinyl, and ever since then Keegs has been hooked, playing gigs at house parties and in clubs. Playing venues around Johannesburg, Durban and Mpumalanga, and having released his music under labels such as Do It Now Recordings, DeepStitched, The Purr Music and Spunk Records, just to name a few, we got Keegs to make us a short mix showcasing his style and did a short Q&A interview with him, which you can read after the jump.

Which album changed your life?

I'd have to say Electro Candi Vol 1 from SoulCandi, it was also the album that inspired me to make music.

What type of music do you play and where do you play it?

Deep House. I play in and around Jozi. Rooftop, Underground parties, especially Sundowner events at some of the coolest spots around Jozi.

What's in the mix you made for us and where should we play it?

I've included some great tracks from really great artists such as Pierre Johnson, Da Brownie, Avi Subban and myself. You can play this anywhere, this will definitely get you in a mood to get down.
