adidas UltraBoost now available on Superbalist
The numbers don’t lie, check the scoreboard, Adidas has boosted their sales from $18.67 billion to $23 billion in the five years since their BOOST technology was first introduced.
Quick maths, sure, but here’s the science – that bouncy white foam used in Adidas’ premier running shoe technology is made by German chemical company Badische Anilin & Soda-Fabrik (BASF), and once married to the shoe with the three stripes the same men in white coats responsible for putting NASA through its paces had a go at this not-entirely-humble sneaker.
The performance of this trainer speaks for itself, and while there were other BOOST shoes before it, the UltraBOOST OG that launched February 2015 is why we’re here. This particular sneaker and the iterations since have not only changed the sneaker company’s fortunes, but has been a veritable game changer for the culture as well.
Who can forget the moment Kanye West rocked a pair of Triple White UltraBOOST at his 2015 Billboard Music Awards performance? Or when streetwear influencers started switching out their Stan Smiths and pin-cuffed selvedge jeans for a sock-fit shoe worn with joggers? Not forgetting when the world screamed MADNESS at DIY enthusiasts who dared uncage their kicks with scalpel-like precision?
And while sneakerheads and athleisureites alike have adopted the UltraBOOST, when adidas calls it “The Greatest Running Shoe Ever” we have to quickly remind ourselves that the true purpose of this particular sneaker is for PBs, and not just love on the ‘gram.
It’s a new year, which means a chance for us to make some lifestyle changes. If the goal is to become a better version of ourselves, then in our experience the best way to stick to this type of resolution is to make an investment that has the legs to show high returns.
Because health is wealth, right?
