The winter floral shirt dress is a true trans-seasonal piece
This look probably evolved from wearing your boyfriend’s shirt from the night before the next morning. Now you don’t even need a man, you can buy your own shirt dress without the extra baggage. The one that we shot here has a winter floral design and could be worn with tights or bare legs as well as go from day to night with ease. A true trans-seasonal piece, pair it with sandals in summer and boots in winter.
The shoes we chose are very youthful. Like a Jelly with a heel. They’re quite chunky and heavy. You’d be forgiven for guessing that the socks with sandals thing is inspired by German tourists, but it’s actually the Japanese who brought the look into fashion. It’s quite a thing now. Prada and Marni have done it. Rosie Huntington Whitely is doing it on the cover of the new Elle. It’s a great way to wear sandals in winter. Here we’ve done white on white but you can be bold with prints and polka dots. It’s all about using texture and colour to make a statement.
