Embrace

Ink and watercolour artwork that was exhibited in New York as part of a global zine collaboration pairing artists with poets. This drawing was inspired by the poetry of Hazel Encarnation: “Yours. Then mine”.

Born in Port Elizabeth but living in Cape Town, Maria Magdalena started her career in October 2014 when she launched her first range of limited edition fine art prints. Blogs and magazines caught wind of this talent, and soon after she was selected as an Emerging Creative at the International Design Indaba. She has since exhibited her original artworks in New York, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban is receiving regular acclaim for her always-growing artisan homeware collection. Each piece seeks an elegant simplicity using complex series of lines in both ink and watercolour.
