Flowers are blooming, leaves are turning green again, the cold breeze is exiting stage left, and that spring feeling is in the air. It can only mean one thing - print season is here.

Spring always brings a sense of renewal and rejuvenation, much like popular print patterns associated with the season. This time around, all your favourites receive a fresh take.

Gone are the days of floral prints only your grandmother would love or stripes in muted tones only fit for the office. These spring staples have transformed and evolved. Here’s how to style them as your outfit’s main moment or as a supporting act.

Traditionally, stripes come in plain black/navy/grey and white pinstripe variations. Much like floral prints, dopamine dressing has given new life to this classic print. From chevron, hairline to awning - they've all been given new life.

Stripes have adopted the maximalist feel, with vibrant complimentary and contrasting colours. This print tends to take centre stage so pairing a striped shirt, knitted vest or trousers is done best with solid colours and tones. Opt for shorts, loose trousers, mini skirts or cargo pants.

Thanks to the movie character icon Miranda Priestly, floral prints have gotten a bad rep when wearing them during springtime. However, this season they are groundbreaking and have incorporated many other big trends that have dominated the runway and streetwear. Think bold and bright colour stories akin to dopamine dressing, the throwback silhouettes of the Y2K takeover and resort wear-inspired fabrications.

Pair a floral top with wide-leg pants or a maxi skirt with heels for an elevated spring feel. Accent an abstract floral dress with sneakers to give a holiday feel, or pair a Cuban floral shirt with chinos and slip-on shoes for a chic relaxed vibe.

The feeling of a holiday doesn’t have to start when you board a flight to an international destination. Destination prints evoke a nostalgic aura of a retro summer with nature-inspired symbols such as birds, trees tropical flowers and leaves.

The use of scenic imagery drawn from these holiday destinations on dresses, tops, skirts, shorts, and loose-fit trousers provides an escapist aesthetic. Pair these pieces with swimwear, comfortable sandals, bold accessories and other lightweight fabrics to make every day feel like a holiday.
