New week, new Monday Mixtape. This Monday we feature founding member of major hip hop festival Back To The City, co-founder of Weheartbeat and culture curator Dominique Soma aka Mama Beats. Soma’s sound finds its origins in hip hop - a realm she’s played an integral part in shifting locally. She describes herself as “an advocate for equity and integrity with a steady hand on the pulse of the Johannesburg underground music scene.” On lineups, her name has sat alongside Masego, Joe Kay, Tall Black Guy and Sho Madjozi to name a few.
