Taking care of yourself is important and there’s no better time to start than Singles’ Day.

Singles’ Day has arrived, which means it’s time to put yourself first and take a moment to be the main character. Don’t worry - we’re not just talking to all the single-as-a-pringle souls. Originating as a response to Valentine’s Day, Singles’ Day started at China's Nanjing University in the ‘90s with single people buying gifts for themselves. The date, 11 November, was selected because the repetitive ones represent singledom.

Over the years, however, this day has moved away from being just about celebrating your relationship status (or lack thereof). Today, Singles’ Day is honoured as a way to celebrate oneself, whether you are single, dating or all loved up.

For us, Singles’ Day is all about self-care. This comes in many forms, from treating yourself to a new look, upping your skincare game, or splurging on that luxury watch or fragrance you’ve been dying to get your hands on.

Taking care of yourself is not only good for an instant mood boost. The long-term effects of looking after yourself make life happier for you and those around you. Because if you can't love yourself, how are you gonna love somebody else?

You know that feeling when you put on a new outfit and just know you're the hottest thing since sliced bread? Some may think clothes are just a practical need to exist in the outside world, but it’s so much more than that. Fashion not only reflects your mood but is an extension of your personality. It's a way for you to give people a glimpse of who you are. And nothing feels better than being your authentic self. So get that new outfit and set out in style.

Taking care of your skin is a long-term investment. Besides helping to slow down the signs of ageing, having a well-versed skincare routine is a simple yet effective way to destress, decompress and disconnect from everything else going on in your life. Those 15 - 30 minutes you spend once or twice a week can make a world of difference, both for your overall mood and your well-being.

Your signature scent says a lot about you. It speaks to your personality and leaves a lingering impression when stepping into a room. There's nothing like smelling good and greeting someone who gives you a stunning compliment on your scent. And as one of your primary senses, the smell can affect your entire mood. Give yourself a spritz of happiness with your favourite scent.
