Zozibini Tunzi, the final feather in South Africa’s global achievements cap last year (shout out to Thebe Magugu and the Bokke), is an intelligent and worthy fashion influencer, no doubt. As Miss Universe 2019, it goes without saying that her life revolves around travelling all over the world. A quick scroll through her Instagram feed shows Zozibini is a pro at striking a balance between practicality and her personality-defining bold style. Keen to inject her infectious style into your wardrobe? Here are four ways.

No question, she loves a thigh-high boot. And that signature thigh-high combination of power and fun not only suits Zozibini, but complements her penchant for a short hemline. For a night out, she tends to style them with stockings and a party dress. Theoretically, she could dance the night away and move straight into morning meetings by swapping the dress with a classic trench coat and her sash. A side note for those who prefer not to show thigh: long boots under a midi skirt look just as smashing.

Zozibini is the first black Miss Universe since 2011’s Leila Lopes and the first ever to snatch the crown with natural hair along with, possibly, the most eclectic rotation of suits. Whether it’s a fresh colour or striking metallic, Zozibini’s suiting aesthetic is proof that the look can be adapted to just about any taste.

You’ll notice Zozibini loves incorporating animal print as an additional point of interest in an outfit. It’s often used in a layering scenario – under a suit jacket or as a top layer cover-up. As prints go, it’s a worthy investment and you’ll very rarely have to worry about it veering into cliche territory.
