This Body Moves is our sport campaign celebrating all of the big and small ways that our bodies carry us. This body adapts, struggles, learns. This body endures, it accomplishes, it has what it takes. This body soaks up the stories that make up a lifetime of living with its own identity, heritage, failures, capabilities and wins. This body sets its own pace. This body sets its own terms.
Meet Leatitia Schonrock. One look at her arms and you’d be surprised to learn that she wasn’t always into fitness. She’s an office administrator, a mom of two – Skyler, her two-year-old toddler and Bella, her English bulldog – and a big fan of country music. Now a qualified personal trainer, Leatitia studied nutrition and values what she feeds her body to keep it going strong at the gym and while running around at home with her family. At 33 years of age, Leatitia is reaching most of her fitness goals after having a baby and being 10kgs heavier for most of her life.
My body is a good place to be because...
It’s strong, it’s dedicated and when it's being challenged, it delivers.
What do you like to wear while being active?
Comfortable tight shorts that don’t slide up while doing burpees, a sports bra and a loose sleeveless top.
What do you eat before you work out?
Caffeine. All the caffeine. I train very early in the morning and it’s always on an empty stomach.
What or who has been your biggest inspiration in life?
All the moms out there not using the word “mom” as an excuse and still smashing their fitness goals.
What does health mean to you and how do you define it?
Happiness. Balance. If you enjoy going for a run, then go run. If you prefer lifting weights, then do that. Find the exercise that your body enjoys doing and be consistent.
What misconceptions do you think people have about fitness?
That it’s hard. It’s really so simple.
What was your favourite moment while shooting the Superbalist Sport 2019 campaign?
Doing jump squats and burpees while saying out loud, “This body is strong. This body loves a challenge!” I loved saying those words. Worst part, also doing burpees saying, “This body is tired. This body is giving up.” I would never say those words to myself while exercising. The mind is so powerful. I constantly motivate myself during training, especially when I am tired or I want to give up.
When have you felt your most beautiful?
On my wedding day.
What do you love most about your body?
It grew a human inside. I am basically superwoman.
And the least?
