Four styles you need to turn up the heat in your collection

Regular sneaker updates are important if you want your collection to last, and if we’re being honest, summer may be the best season for this. Devon Daniels, Superbalist’s Footwear Buyer, agrees and says that “you tend to stick to staples to protect from the elements in winter and in summer there's so much more going on socially because the weather is great, so you get to show off more and not destroy your top kicks in the process.” He adds that your focus should be on “canvas and breathable materials: with canvas, all your classic never-out-of-style silhouettes are always on beat, like a basic pair of Chucks or Vans.”
“We are all a bit more active around season so that means lots of hot days missioning around from sunrise way into sunset, and this is where the breathable fabrications like flyknit come into play and are the most comfortable. Also, switch it up with Zoom or Vapormax sole units that will keep your feet from tiring and support you best.”
All of those things considered, we have narrowed the list down to four summer sneaker must-haves...
Sneakers in rose gold, silver and iridescent shades are selling out left and right, lately — they make a loud statement, so it's easy to see why. In fact, metallic footwear in any form is having a huge style moment right now, it ranks high as a replacement option for neutrals, but the sneaker variations give you a kick for comfort and are just as fancy.
The day one silhouette, all grown up (see the platform wedge) with a lavish fabrication update. This one is for the girls whose daily staples are strictly within the range of blacks and greys, even through the season of bright colour splashes, the rebels who stay true to Vans' nonconformist culture. At the same time, don’t sleep on how a great pair of basic monochromatic kicks could form a solid base.
Pro tip: Vans (and Chuck Taylors) are a nice way to bring leather mini skirts into daytime summer dressing. Throw on a plain tee and the look suddenly isn’t as vampy as it would have been, but still retains subtle sex appeal.
The underrated shoe closet heroes, sneakers in soft-serve shades of blues and pinks come through for you whether you’re on a casual, preppy “vaycay in the hamptons” steeze or a some pretty dress vibe. We’re into Nike’s Juvenates because they’re literally Roshe Runs that went to college and glowed up, with a similar barefoot design and a breathable mesh upper, they’re a must-have. And even though suede may not traditionally be a fabric associated with summertime, adidas Stan Smith Bolds are chic texture flex.
Worn with shorts or a high slit, platform kicks can do as much for your casual ‘fit as a pair of heels would. This is a fact. And that is why they have been on every fashion girl’s sneaker hit list since 2015. The truth is that while you’re reading this contemplating your life and debating the truth, your size is selling out… people may lie, but the numbers don’t.
