This is what people wore to South African Menswear Week SS18
By Mandy Nash
On the 7th and 8th of July, the fashion crowd got together to support local designers debuting their SS18 ranges at the SAMW shows. Not only did the designers kill it on the runway, the attendees also brought the front-row style.
We rubbed shoulders with the masses to find you the best dressed.
Millenial pink and frills done well by Palesa Kgasane @palesakgasane.
Aaron Lynch @sugarlynch and Michael Oliver @michaeloliverlove rocked suits by Tokyo James on and off the ramp.
We love the way twins Justine @itsjustinepetersen and Jodie Petersen @jodiepetersenn, represented by Cover Model Management, have such a unique take on twinning, which allows them to maintain their individual identities.
A newcomer to the fashion scene, Tina Tshangela @tinasreality has firmly established herself on our fashion radar. Her ability to pair basics so beautifully makes her one to watch.
The newly appointed editor of GQ Magazine, Yati Khumalo @yatikhumalo, knows his way around classic tailoring and can pull off suiting with ease.
Githan Coopoo @githancoopoo makes a striking entrance whenever he walks into a room. He does this by pairing unexpected pieces and finishes off his look with earrings from his exquisite line of jewellery.
Liezel Cloete @liezelcloete, an alumni of Elizabeth Galloway, and right hand to Genevieve Lyons, showed us this fresh take on the headscarf.
It's rare that full camo and yellow looks have a spot on the best-dressed list, but these two, in their @xm.creations, make the previous faux pas feel so right.
Naeelah Jumat @socioculture_bynaeelahjumat stood out from the other fashionistas' uniforms of black in a green tracksuit and statement handbag from her brand, Socioculture.
Abongwe Qokela @iamabongwe, a member of our very own #superbstaff, arrived on the scene supporting local brand, Imprint. We love how she considered her accessories in relation to this bold look and balanced a statement outfit with classic brogues.
There he is, our main boy Martin Magner @martinmagner, who, when not serving sauce on the runway for Nicholas Coutts, was very busy looking like a model straight out of a Gucci campaign in his turquoise suit and soft 80s curls.
You may remember Mziyanda @queenlohaanda from our videos for Youth Day and Pride Month. When not collaborating with Superbalist, Mziyanda is a college student on the go, running from one event to the next carrying a Dirk bag that's perfect for all those books.
Gavin Collins @gavinmikeycollins is a stylist with a natural flair for wearing local designers and mainstream fashion. Just look at him killing it in a W35T scarf and Diesel kicks.
Tracy-Lee Rosalind @mstracyleerosslind always enters the room wearing a banger of a look. And don't just take it from us, immediately after shooting her portrait, Tracy-Lee showed us how Snoop Dogg had just liked her photo on Instagram.
Tarryn Oppel @tarryno and Rusty Beukes @rustybeukes are no strangers to style. We love how they both chose to show their support for Johannesburg designer Rich Mnisi.
How cute is this couple, Qiniso van Damme @qinisovandamme and Buck Whaley @uckbae, twinning in Phillip Obermeyer? Challenging everyday norms and pushing boundaries, they're a dynamic fashion duo and if you want to get to know Qiniso better, then tune into the YouTube series The Foxy Five.
