FOTR: Superga Club S

Superga’s Sports Collection throws back to the brand’s rich athletic history

Superga Club S

As a culture infatuated by the past, the Superga Club S is a sneaker that won’t just have retro lovers coveting it – sneakerheads, minimalists, sports fans and aesthetes alike are all sure to appreciate the brand’s iconic sports swallow tail design.

Over 100 years old and influential since the very beginning, Superga has kept up to date with current trends and inspired sneaker styles from canvas to flatforms to mid-tops that transition from season to season while standing the test of time.

Superga Club S

It all started after Walter Martiny discovered technology invented by Charles Goodyear, the vulcanisation of natural rubber – then brought the invention back to Italy and set up a factory in close proximity to a church in Turin, the Basilica di Superga.

Initially specialising in tyres, then rubber toys, and later fully waterproof boots, it wasn’t until 1925 that the company introduced the world’s first canvas sneaker with vulcanised natural rubber, Superga’s 2750.

Superga’s Sports Collection harks back to 1976, when the Italian tennis team won its first and only Davis Cup wearing Superga shoes. Five years later Ivan Lendl won the tennis masters in New York in Superga, and today the former world No. 1 is coaching the current world No. 1, Andy Murray.

Inspired by retro designs and a sporty tennis aesthetic, the Club S collection is made from premium materials and the classic design will take your ensemble from the court to the streets with ease.

Whether you're after a sports luxe aesthetic or are simply looking to add some of that 70s heritage into your wardrobe, you should look at styling your Superga Club S sneakers with slouchy jeans and a bomber jacket, or opt for a more formal look and dress them up with a suit. Either way, you're sure to look ace.
