21-year-old Nathan Pearson has lived in Johannesburg’s south his entire life and with seven years spent behind the decks he’s set to take his passion and love for music nationally.

Having played alongside some of our countries finest, Picz has shared the stage with the likes of Black Coffee, Chrizz Beatz, Cassper Nyovest, Euphonik, Harrison Crump, Jack Parrow, Sketchy Bongo, Matthew Mole, K.O and more.

With a knack for mixing up all sorts of different sounds in order to create something fresh and unique, a Picz set is always a vibe and something that leaves you bopping your head long after you’ve left.

You can read our short interview with the musician after the jump.

What music did you grow up listening to and what are you into nowadays?

I grew up listening to local house, 80s and old school hip-hop and R&B. Nowadays my taste for music now is even broader, as I enjoy all types of music, but my top three go-to genres would be house, hip-hop and deep house. But again, I really do enjoy all music weather it be pop, jazz or old school.

Describe your dance style.

My dance style varies depending on my mood and the type of music that’s being played. I prefer a more mellow and less vibey style of dancing. I just let the music do its work and move my body and soul. To be perfectly honest, I actually prefer to just chill out and listen to slower music that’s between 118-122 beats per minute.

Tell us about this mix.

The mix I made for Superbalist includes some of my favorite tracks and artists right now, and is just what the club scene and what Joburg nightlife is enjoying and getting down to.
