Six women. Six life-of-the-party looks
The beat pulses like electricity through the house, causing the chandelier to tingle, as it throws kaleidoscopic light across the room. Some friends are getting ready below, murmuring excitedly about where the night will take them. Who knows where they’re heading – but it’s all part of the fun.
A stolen glance, the flash of a camera, a flurry of sequins, a knock at the door – their after-dark adventure is about to begin and you best believe that they’ll be looking better than the rest as they head out for the night. That is, until someone loses a phone, drops a drink or decides that midnight pizza is a good idea.
Find your look, follow their lead and prepare to bring the heat.
The summer of a lifetime starts now.
Her look:
Luxe, slinky and sultry.
Favourite festive season event:
Obviously New Year – 2015 was spent on a yacht, and 2016 will be spent at an exclusive mansion party alongside some of SA’s most famous B-list celebs.
What does she bring to the party:
Two words: free entrance. This girl knows everyone worth knowing and she’ll be slipping her best friends past the door ladies of summer’s hottest parties without so much as a raised eyebrow.
What’s on her Wishlist:
Chokers, chokers and more chokers.
Her look:
Striking, fierce, sleek.
Favourite festive season event:
End-of-year bashes. Last year she snuck into a certain film company’s infamous annual wrap party. She’s not really allowed to talk about what she saw inside, but it was a seriously wild ride.
What does she bring to the party:
A schedule. This “it” girl knows about every rooftop party and invite-only occasion going down on any given night, and can rattle off the guest list for each. Usually found herding friends into taxis as they make their way from one venue to the next.
What’s on her Wishlist:
Sneakers – metallic Supergas to be exact. Her look:
All-black everything – she may be a girl’s girl but she’s all about the grunge.
Favourite festive season event:
Christmas. Family, friends, alcohol and good food. Plus, her parents are footing the bill – what’s not to love?
What does she bring to the crew:
Balance. She’s been the party girl and she knows that it ends in stolen phones and unnecessary drama. She’s no less fun for it, but she’s always on hand to warn you about the dangers of the after jol and gently suggests that you take an Uber home after the third drink spillage.
What’s on her Wishlist:
Jeffrey Campbell shoes – she can’t even. The look:
Pulled together. Work-to-play ready.
Favourite festive season event:
An after-work launch (because free snacks and drinks) that might turn into dinner with friends. As long as she’s in bed by 12 and fresh for the next day’s round of events, she’s good. This is her job, after all.
What does she bring to the party?
Goodie bags. Not only has she allowed you to feel part of the city’s ‘fashion elite’, she’s brought you immeasurable happiness in the form of free stuff.
What’s on her Wishlist:
What isn’t? Pichulik jewellery, loafer slides, a Moleskine diary, Vans, a satin bomber and sunglasses are all up there.
The look:
Ready to party, sports luxe, form-fitting.
Favourite festive season event:
The annual office party. Her colleagues are the best and she loves them even more when she’s drunk. This year’s event is set to be a banger, although she’ll be avoiding the CEO after she locked him into looking at her holiday pics for a solid half hour at the last one. Hasn’t made eye contact since.
What does she bring to the party?
The vibe. Need a friend that’s always down to party, whatever the venue, whatever the weather? She’s your girl. Just be prepared to manage the level of vibes – she’ll be adding pictures to her Instagram story with carefree abandon. Spoiler alert: you’re in some of them, and the content has gone from good to ‘someone get this girl an Uber’.
What’s on her Wishlist:
Bodysuits – what can’t you wear them with? The look:
Elegant with a little edge.
Favourite festive season event:
The wedding/the weekend soirée – if an event has floating canapés and an Instagrammable backdrop, she’s there. Can’t find her? Check the dancefloor, she’ll be on it ‘til the lights come on.
What does she bring to the party?
A side helping of serious sass – she may look sugary sweet in her pastels and florals, but make no mistake: this girl will take you down if you cross her or her friends – her icy stare after an inappropriate dancefloor grope has been known to stop men in their tracks.
What’s on her Wishlist:
Accessories to accompany her to a season of events – clutch bags and shades if you want to get specific.
