The Mixtape Vol. 28

Nic Berti from The Beard made us a mixtape

A music site popped up on our radar, a Best Music Blog 2014 runner up, no less, and so we asked the dude there, 28-year old Nic Berti, to make us a playlist and he obliged. In case you're not familiar with his brand, here's Nic explaining it:

"The Beard is a music and event blog, showcasing events I think people would like to attend and music that people might not have heard of. We've been going on for 3 years now."

The "About" section on his site says that The Beard "symbolizes rock n roll, an independence, a movement away from the mainstream. Its indie. We strive to bring you the best indie events (with the occasional commercial festival) and music and to show you that Jo’burg is one of the most exciting cities to be living in at the moment. Welcome to the movement."

The Beard's mix is a collation of some of the latest indie/alternative tunes, which starts off very chilled and gains momentum towards the end. It's a happy mix, something to get you through the day and contains a mix of a few awesome indie rock and indie pop bands that Nic has been listening to lately, which includes the likes of The Kooks, The Knocks, Healy, Avid Dancer, Arctic Lake and The Japanese House.

"If you want to find new music then this mix is what you need.  I also do monthly mixtapes that are posted to The Beard."
