Dark florals are taking centre stage for winter
Florals for spring may not be ‘ground breaking’ (we can thank The Devil Wears Prada and Miranda Priestly for that nugget of truth), but they’re definitely adding an edge to winter style. Dark, moody and romantic, our favourite flowers and paisley patterns are adorning everything from dresses to playsuits, blooming from black-as-night backgrounds into an array of vintage-inspired colours; think maroons, deep purples and mossy greens.
Designers couldn’t get enough of these atmospheric blooms for A/W 15-16; Valentino went all out with enchanted forests and clustered florals while Chloé opted for dark, delicate botanicals and Givenchy showed brooding, boho prints.
More grunge than girly, this isn’t a look for the soft and sweet so throw some winter boots, leather and a choker into the mix to put your own spin on the style in all its bohemian slash pre-Raphaelite splendour.
