In today's technology-driven world, we all spend a bit too much time behind our screens. It's hard to get a break, as most of us have traditional 9-to5 jobs that require you to stare at a screen for hours. When we come home, we relax and unwind by binge-watching the latest show, or scrolling for hours on our mobile phones. According to studies, most adults spend upwards of six hours a day in front of a digital device like a cellphone, tablet, or television screen. While entertaining, all this screen time can wreck havoc on your eyes, because these screens emit blue light. Blue light is found everywhere, from the sun's rays to fluorescent lighting and digital device screens. Light emits a variety of colours, each with their own energy levels. Blue light has shorter wavelengths and more energy than other colours of light, like red light, orange light, or green light. While blue light isn't necessarily a bad thing, it can become negative when we are overexposed to it, which is exactly what is happening now that we spend so much time indoors staring at our various electronic screens. This is the exact reason why eye professionals suggest people invest in blue light glasses.

What are blue ray glasses, you ask? blue light protection glasses are specially crafted glasses with lenses that block out or filter out the blue light that is emitted from electronic screens. Wearing blue light glasses have a number of eye health and general health benefits. Firstly, they can help you enjoy a better night's rest. A few hours before bedtime, our bodies naturally start to release a sleep-inducing hormone called melatonin. However, anything with short wavelengths, like blue light, can delay this release. As a result, your sleep schedule can be thrown off. This can be seen when we use our electronic devices right before we go to bed, and then struggle to fall asleep. If you absolutely cannot live without your electronics before bed, it is wide to wear a pair of blue light filter glasses to help combat this delay.

Wearing blue light blocking glasses can also help reduce eye strain. Typically, blue light makes it harder for your eyes to focus. With blue blocker glasses, however, blue light is filtered out, which helps you focus your eyes and thus reduce eye strain. By extension, blue light glasses can also help reduce your frequency of headaches. So, the next time you need to work, make sure to get your 'computer glasses'!

Did you know that wearing anti blue light glasses can also help reduce your risk of certain eye diseases? While your cornea and eye lens work hard to block out harmful UV light from reaching the retina, they cannot block our blue light. If your retina is damaged by blue light overexposure, this could leas to you possibly developing macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness.
Be smart and protect your eyes from this risk by wearing computer glasses blue light.
