Studio Ale specialises in graphic design, illustration and product design. The name originates from the designers’ great grandfather’s shandy ale factory based in Durban. Inspired and influenced by old-world charm, the duo’s work references traditional font lettering, retro design and pop art. Multiple techniques are employed, from the use of silhouette imagery to hand-drawn typography, as well as the input of simple geometric shapes with the intention of bold output.
