From the early to mid-seventies, Led Zeppelin was the biggest band in the world. Dropping in 1970, Led Zeppelin III ensured this would be the case. Written largely in an 18th century Welsh cottage on a hilltop in the middle of nowhere, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant conceptualised and composed an album that would mark a shift from the bluesy, hard-rock sound of their early material. The new material would take an electric-folk direction, with greater focus on acoustic arrangements. And then there’s ‘The Immigrant Song’…
